The SilverFox InControl Application

When we tell people that SilverFox has a new app, the immediate assumption is that we now have our own motorcycle navigation map application. But, don’t worry, that’s not the case! From the SilverFox point of view, there are a lot of really great map applications and web-based navigation programs out there, so there is no need for us to try to improve on the great systems that are already available.
It has been the SilverFox intention, from very early on, to support an “open” operating environment. This means that you, as the rider and customer, can use your own phone or tablet in conjunction with your favorite map application. The SilverFox InControl application is designed to support this goal, to ensure the SilverFox controller functions optimally with your favorite map applications.
As of the writing of this article, the beta version of the InControl application is available from the SilverFox website. This is the first “go round” of an application for SilverFox, so we are still working out some of the bugs and other unforeseen challenges that arise in these development projects - so, the “beta” will be removed once we are farther along.
SilverFox Controllers: Mode One and Mode Two
The list on the SilverFox app page divides applications into the Mode 1 and Mode 2 groups (seen on the controllers as F1 and F2). Mode 2 is set up to be working with applications that provide the opportunity to program the controller buttons within the application itself, this includes Stegra, Osmand, Kurviger, and 11 others (that have been tested so far). These Mode 2 applications do not require anything from the SilverFox InControl application, but instead the user will be able to program the button operations within the individual application.
Mode 1 navigation applications do not have an option to program the button operations, and this is when the SilverFox InControl application is used. The InControl application allows the user to program the re-center button function in each individual application. Once the button has been programmed, the InControl application stores the information so that the re-center button functions are saved; there is no need to re-program the button each time the application is opened. With the programming of the re-center button, the controller can be used for all of the map navigation controls: zoom-in, zoom-out, panning the map in four directions, and re-centering.
Switching back and forth between Mode 1 and Mode 2 is done based on the model of controller, and the information for this can be found on the SilverFox webpage or on the SilverFox YouTube Channel.
