SilverFox Controllers is a small company based out of Pusula, a small counrty-side village in southern Finland. The SilverFox motorcycle navgation controllers are designed and manufactured in the Pietilä Subcon machine shop. The "in-house" design engineer and machinst, Riku, has many years experience in design and metal/machinery work. SilverFox Controllers is the first venture to combine the years of professional work with the passion for riding. Landing Riku, and the new SilverFox project, in the world of motorcycle navigation and motorcycle accessories.
The Start of SilverFox
The SilverFox navigation controllers were born out of Riku's need to keep riding!
In 2021 Riku came back to riding motorcycles, after an exteneded time away. The return to riding also meant a return to the interest of navigating his way through the backroads and forests of Finland on two wheels. But, it was no longer navigation with the paper maps that Riku was used to (from long ago), the maps were now on the phones and tablets that were mounted on the bike handlebars. And, a new navigation challenge presented itself: how can you just keep riding when there is a constant need to stop, take off the glove, and mess with the touch screen navigation application?
With his own expertise and experience, Riku solved his "how to keep riding" problem by building his first motorcycle navigation controller, so he could adjust the navigation application without stopping, taking off a glove, or touching the screen. And it worked brilliantly!
First a neighbor took notice, and needed a controller also. Then a friend took notice, and needed a controller also. And then word got out, and more local riders needed controllers... SilverFox Contollers was born!
Design Progress and International Demand
After the first few iterations, the first B89 controller was in production. Thork Racing/DMD, a motorcycle navigation focused parts and distribution company out of Portugal took immediate notice of SilverFox build quality and design work. DMD began with re-selling the SilverFox B8J controller, and then asking Riku to support with the design and manufacturing of the Thork/DMD "Remote 1" controller, which was manufactured in the SilverFox facilities until is discontinuation by DMD.
During the manufacturing phases of the DMD Remote 1, Riku streamlined the SilverFox controller design. The H1 motorcycle navigation controller was the second SilverFox model - which also included the characteristic SilverFox attachement arm that only requires 9mm of space on the motorcycle handlebars. The attachment arm design has been modified and carried over into the design of the H1+, the C1, and C2 controllers. The attachement arm and variety of set-up options have become a clear sales feature of the SilverFox Controllers.
The growing international demand for the SilverFox controllers has been answered, in part, by the SilverFox webshop as well as the growing network of SilverFox Resellers. The reselling network is mostly made up of smaller motorcycle parts and accessory manufacturers and resellers - all of whom have been very excited and supportive of SilverFox and motorcycle navigation in general.
SilverFox Controllers - Present Day!
Currently, SilverFox is manufacturing the three SilverFox motorcycle navigation controller models. The three different models can all be utilized with most any mobile phone or tablet device (most often being Android devices). And using the F1 & F2 Mode structure, the controllers have been tested to work with over 30 different navigation applications!
Additionally, the SilverFox Webshop is a reseller for the Carpe Iter navigation tablets, which are proving to be an excellent (and very durable) option for the riders that are looking for a motorcycle navigation specific device.
